Good Race : Fulfilled my goal which was to finish under 40'. Feeling confident before the race. Started too fast, although mile markers may have been off. Adjusted pace immediately for mile 2. Struggled and felt like quitting in last two miles, esp. last. Did not sprint at the finish (but could have). It may be that I haven't done enough tempo runs in training. Now the plan is to drop competition and focus on cycling until the Death Ride.

Slow start, felt fresh on both sides of Monitor. Felt great and pushed a bit on Ebbets, despite the 25. Slowed down on Carson, but still a manageable effort. Great ride, especially given lack of training this year.
Next day took a great solo hike near Kirkwood, on the Emigrant's Trail. Fantastic feeling to be there by myself in the mountain, with endless views.

Placed 6th overall (out of 55 men, 25 women)
Placed 1st in age division 30-39 (out of 16 men)

Warmup : 0:29:35 ( @ 8'50" pace = 3.4 Miles)
Mileage : 9.6 Miles
Pace : 6'49" / mile
Wght : 150.5

Good race. Kept an even effort. Sprint at the end. Obviously good ranking, in spite of lackluster time. This was not a very competitive field. The organization wasn't top, so the exact mileage may have been wrong. I suspect that the distance was likely superior to 10k, so my time may have been better than this.

Wght : 150

Bad counter-performance. Started too quickly, pushed too hard in some of the middle miles as effort felt easy. Started slowing down dramatically in the last miles. Did not hang on to try to finish (although probably could have). Did not want to go through the same pain that the Marathon had been (same place). Feeling frustrated that I blew the race and decided not worth it to go on. Now feeling very disappointed that I didn't hang on though. I probably still could have made it under 1:35. Most of all, did not stick at all to my race plan and pace prediction. In spite of all this, still finished 141 overall (out of 736 men) and 28th in age division (35-39). Had I kept a 6:57 pace, I would have finished in 1:31:02. Had I run the last miles at 7:20, I would have finished in 1:32:26.

Wght : 150
RHR : 44.4

Good race : Fulfilled exactly my race prediction : 41 minutes and negative splits. 4th mile was the hardest, but still able to pick up the pace in last miles. Cooldown run felt really good.

Severe stormy weather !! Extreme gusts of wind and heavy rain.
Had to turn back between 3m. and 4m. mrkr as the wind was getting too strong (was almost thrown into the water !). Went into Palo Alto streets instead. Severe storm hit the area : Tree branches and power down in many places. In spite of this, very good run. Heart rate too high, but probably because of extreme conditions and extra layers of clothing.
